Adwords Fraud and Exploitation of the Public Domain!

The Website Internet History Log | Editor/Contact | Design by drazanlapic.com

Small business requires a full range of computer hardware, software and web related services to achieve prominence in the Internet market place , which is becoming more difficult. Most recently I was retained by several small businesses to do SEO of their websites and assist them in obtaining better web position. Some of them were using adwords campaigns which were not cost effective, producing little or no business.

After reviewing and analyzing numerous adwords campaigns, the majority were found to be well conducted. The settings were more or less reflective of the specifics of their business and from where they were attempting to acquire new business. Not surprisingly this broader picture obtained was very similar to the results of several adwords campaigns I designed a couple of years ago. Industry wide pay per click abuse was blatantly apparent ranging from a conflict of interest by search engines generating income from adwords pay per click campaigns on one side and encouraging or knowingly allowing adsense where income is generated from clicks.

This abuse reached epidemic proportion resulting in litigation, including a 90 million dollar class action settlement. However the abuse continued due to lack of controls and remains today an industry problem.

We are suffering from search engine industry wide schemes to inflate profits illegally. Even worse, this exploitation of public domain has resulted in a market place for a few privately owned companies rewarded by billion dollars earnings and profits.

This page attempts to generate more public opinion on what is happening in our industry as very little information is available despite an obvious need for change.

Contributions are welcomed from anyone, especially small business owners and supporting computer specialists involved in SEO and adwords campaigns design.
